About CWAS Ayr

Cycling Without Age Scotland is a national charity, part of the global Cycling Without Age movement, dedicated to enriching the lives of older people and those with limited mobility. Through free trishaw rides—three-wheeled bicycles piloted by trained volunteers—CWAS enables passengers to enjoy the outdoors, share stories, and reconnect with their communities. Established nationally in 2018 (following a successful trial in Falkirk in 2017), CWAS now supports dozens of chapters across Scotland, operating more than 150 trishaws in 80 communities with the support of the Scottish Government.

The Ayr branch, launched in late 2023 after the success of neighbouring chapters in Girvan and Prestwick, has quickly grown to provide weekly rides for residents of eight local care homes, supported by a team of 20 dedicated volunteers. All our rides are offered free of charge to care homes—and soon, to the wider community.

Our team has worked hard to raise funds for our own Danish-built trishaws, uniforms, training, insurance, and delivery costs.
